Why are people burning their city to the ground in Baltimore? How doe Looting and Mob Violence Help?
by PokerPlayerPhil init's hard enough for businesses to enter these areas the government once had to offer up tax breaks to service them.
in watts, california it took decades for city residents to get a grocery store after the thugs burned their businesses to the ground.
you can see the insanity taking place, when you allow mobs and fools to burn building down nothing good comes from it.

Village Idiot, That is a good point. It is not per capita. They make up 14%+ of all gun murders in 2011, and have more than 12% of America's population. -

I was only touching on one topic where blacks and white statistically are using an illegal drug equally or close to equally. In this case marijuana. However, the arrest for the offense is disproportionate. -

Wouldn't let me post the arrest report, but basically blacks are arrested twice as much for pot possession

Sorry Simon. But I really don't think you understand the social issues in America. I don't see how guns is the root cause for the riots going on or the issues between the Black community and the police. You didn't even make an attempt to justify that statement.
I'm for strict gun laws, but I know that will have no impact on crime in America. Guns are in the 100's of millions in this country. You literally would have to ban guns and gather them all. There are 89 guns for every 100 American. This will never happen since it is now part of our Constitution with the 2nd Amendment. It would have to be appeal, and will not happen any time soon. The best is with strict gun laws, and that as I stated has no impact in America. According to the 2011 FBI Uniform Crime report, Californian with the strictest gun laws in America based on the Brady scoring system , had the highest amount of gun murders in 2011.
Though the rest of your argument/comments I see validity in. I think you are way off on racism not being a fundamental issue, and really don't think you have an understand of the dynamics of it pertaining to America. To just touch on you Marijuana/Drug comment. If needed I can provide you source, but Whites use Pot just as much if not more than Blacks in America. However, look at the arrest report below. Can a correlation be made between race and arrests? Racism, poverty, guns, drugs, education, ect... are all valid issues to this problem.

This is another example of core values. No one will change their mind on this topic. It is predetermined by your personal life experiences.
i am predicting this thread will go off the rails with lots of hate speech and bigoted thoughts.
An example of no discussion or other view point allowed. A simple repetitive statement to shut down any discourse. If someone states something contrary to your opinion, they are bigoted or spewing hate speech.
Racism is alive and well in America. The only difference is people don't flaunt it like they use to, because they could lose their jobs or businesses. Being a white male I'm privy to the comments made in private by my peers. Being married to a minority and having a mix child I too have experienced the touch of racism. I live in a predominantly black neighborhood. Some are Haitian and others are American born. They do a great job in raising their family, and are the best neighbors I've ever had. The reason is they all have a stable family unit. Each of my neighbors are a married couple with children. I have no worries that they will ever loot or burn my house down. Economic and social problems are the root cause, besides racism.
Since we are stating opinions here. I support the police and have dealt with them on a professional level for 10 years in my previous job. However, there are quite a few that are cocky, and if they feel you are disrespectful they have no problem using force. It's a tough job, especially in a country loaded with guns. But police training and accountability needs to improve.
All I ever read or hear is generalize statements on how to deal with America's race issue. Specifically as a nation we need to address the social issues and economic issues that Black Americans face. Education, job opportunities are important but also the broken homes so many Blacks are born in needs to be addressed. You can't have 73% of a specific population born out of wed-lock and not have issues (Centers for Disease and Control Prevention 2010).

Hypothetical RE: Gay Marriage

I would be curious if anyone has seen this scenario. There is no need for a hypothetical SCOTUS ruling for this scenario to occur. There are plenty of states that legalize marriage for this to happen.
What is more interesting to me is the reaction of the congregation to have known homosexuals attending meetings. Could you imagine the reactions of these homophobes seeing two gay men walking in the Hall holding hands? In fact it would be actually interesting if GLAAD organized such events.

Dangerous "Pent up" feelings inside of most witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 ini have often wondered if there is more harm done to people who are stifled or smothered from expressing their natural conduct, feelings or actions because of it being condemned by religious ideals?.
so if a person keeps suppressing their real personality and tries to mould themselves to the "perfect" or "ideal" version as expected from those controlling them, could they eventually "bust" so to speak?.
for instance, witnesses condemn many forms of entertainment.

I was never allowed to watch R rated movies growing. When I turned 18 I went and watched Brave Heart. I never once felt guilty, and though the movie was violent, it was probably nothing to the true violence of that time period.
I was at a meeting talking to an Elder. I happened to mention I watched the movie, and it motivate me to research the history behind William Wallace. The Elder began tearing me down about the dangers of watching a R rated movie. The interesting thing was I knew is 16 year old daughter. She would go to school, change into an entirely different outfit. She also had a boyfriend and was sleeping with him. But he was more worried about me watching an R rated movie.
So no I never felt guilty because I did what I wanted, but under my parents roof I did obey. The only guilt I have in life is not making friendships at a young age with non-witnesses.

"Your good example is much needed for the young ones the congregation."
by Yondaime inhey guys n gals, sorry its been such a long time since i've posted.
lately i've been very busy balancing between my school work and cult activities.
since i've been doing pretty well "spiritually"(enough field-circus hours, attending meetings, underlining my literatrash, reading, praying and serving as the mic-master) my coordinator grabbed me to the side after a meeting and talked to me for twenty minutes straight congratulating me about how good i am doing.. then he paused for a good five seconds and got all serious.. then he proceeded to tell me that the young ones in the hall aren't doing too well.

I'm sure Nitty-Gritty, if you were to reveal some of your history as a JW, we would be able to insult you too.
Never fails to surprise me the judgmental attitudes of some members on this board. It is as if they are still Jehovah's Witnesses.
I know of several JW who kicked their family members out at young ages, and nothing was done by law enforcement. I've seen mothers bring their daughters to the OBYN to see if they are still virgins. Never underestimate what a cult member is able or willing to do.
I think some of the ones who insult other members on this board are truly mad at themselves. I've seen prior Elders who were in this religion for 30 years left and went into another religion, and now is an Atheist. Those same people insult those who still believe in God. Or people in a bad marriage call people on this board pedophiles because they marry someone 20 years their junior. I always go back and read a posters history that is insulting others. Seems to be an underlining theme of anger that they misdirect to others here.
